HE Animals of this Clafs are of flow motion, foft fubftance, able to increafe their bulk and reitore parts which have been a coved, extremely tenacious of life, and the inhabitants of moilt places. Many of them are withont diftinct bead, and moit of thena without feet. “They are principally diftinguifhed by their sentacula or feelers.
By the Ancients they were not improperly called imperfect ani- ‘mas, as being deftitute of ears, nofe, head, eyes and legs; and are therefore totaiiy diftin& from Infects.

Thefe are deftined to feed on the juices of various animals, and are moitly found in the alimentary canal, ufually at the upper part of it. They are fometimes found in great numbers, and accafion very diftrefling ailments. ‘They have the power cf reproducing parts which have been broken off, and are there fore removed with confiderable difficulty. They are ovipa- rous, and difcharge their numerous eggs from the apertures on the joints,
